The Charlotte Bobcats are among the first teams to actually address a need early in the draft. Bismack Biyombo is not flashy, but he will make the lowly Bobcats better
My frustration with the first several picks in this draft is abated a little with the seventh pick, Sacramento serving as Charlotte?s puppet to select Congan forward/center Bismack Biyombo.
Charlotte might be the team that has improved itself most thus far in the draft with a handful of teams making mindless choices that add to strength and don?t address weakness. The Bobcats did well to take a player that can potentially own the paint. The popular comparison for Biyombo is Ben Wallace, a player who dominated down low and kept opponents from getting layups.
Biyombo isn?t expected to add much on offense, which is now a grave weakness for the Bobcats with the exit of Stephen Jackson in today?s three-way trade with Sacramento and Milwaukee.
Wait, hold on a second: Charlotte just made another great pick to address that offensive weakness. Who better to rectify a scoring deficit than the electric Kemba Walker?
The National Champion PG couldn?t have landed in a much better situation, one in which he doesn?t have a lot of competition for playing time and is needed greatly.
He fell a few spots, but he and Charlotte should both be happy with how it panned out at the ninth pick.
