Potential Lottery Picks Bismack Biyombo and Jordan Hamilton Not Invited to Green Room for 2011 NBA Draft
ESPN NBA Draft guru Chad Ford revealed today the 15 players invited to the Green Room for Thursday's festivities with a few notable exceptions.
Bismack Biyombo, the teenage big man from the Congo, is easily the most shocking of the omissions. The raw but defensively talented Biyombo, who projects as a bigger Ben Wallace-type, has long been considered a lock as a lottery pick, with Ford himself predicting him to go 11th to the Golden State Warriors.
Perhaps those in charge of the event took notice of news that Biyombo didn't fare so well at his workouts in Europe, which have since forced the big Congan to reach out to a number of teams, including the Detroit Pistons and the New York Knicks, offering private workouts.
Texas swingman Jordan Hamilton, Providence guard Marshon Brooks and USC forward Nikola Vucevic were also left off the guest list, though all three are considered borderline lotto prospects, at best.
It's quite possible that the NBA will extend invitations to those three and others as Thursday's draft draws nearer. Should no further invites be sent out, Hamilton, Brooks, Vucevic and the rest of the draft's hopefuls will still be allowed to attend the ceremonies, though they'll have to make the slightly longer jaunt to the stage from the stands like the rest of the fans.
