Andre Villas-Boas Set for FC Porto Reunion with Signing of Alvaro Pereira

According to the Daily Mirror the Blues have indeed inked a 20 million deal with Andre Villas-Boas' former club FC Porto for the signature of Uruguayan left wing back Alvaro Pereira.

The player was part of the Uruguayan Copa America Championship side and was a key link up with Liverpool's Luis Suarez.

Pereira is the second Uruguayan international defender to make a move to the English Premier League in the last few days of the transfer window with Liverpool having agreed an 8 million fee for Nacional central defender, Sebastian Coates on this same day.

With the deal set to be completed in the next 12 hours or so as the window is quickly approaching, it looks to be all done and dusted pending a medical and the signing of the official documents with the club and their new star.

WWE Raw Analysis: SmackDown Superstars Got Involved!

Hello folks!

Last night we were treated to a SuperShow!

This means that Raw superstars were joined by SmackDown superstars live!

The reason I have done a slideshow concentrating on the moments where the SmackDown superstars were present, is because I think it worked perfectly.

All the SmackDown participants were injected into the show seamlessly, it didn’t destroy any feuds, and it did not once become stale and boring.

This analysis will explain why I think said moments were so good, and suggest other things I noticed from the invasion of the SmackDown superstars.

So without further ado, sit back, relax, and enjoy the read!

On Friday, September 2nd, the United States Men's National Team will take on Costa Rica at the Home Depot Center in Carson, California.

Madden 12: 3 Tight Ends Who Are Impossible to Cover

It doesn't matter if you spotlight them, call the perfect defense and cover them with your best defender, there are a few tight ends in Madden 12 who are uncoverable.

They are too big for defensive backs to handle and too fast for linebackers. For those who know how to utilize these tight ends, it's game over for their opponents.

Here are the three tight ends who are impossible to cover.

Vernon Davis

The 49ers brought in a legitimate threat at receiver in Braylon Edwards, but it's Vernon Davis who continues to terrorize defenses in Madden. He's got blazing 90 speed that very few linebackers even come close to. His height and 94 jumping make him a matchup nightmare.

Jermichael Finley

Jermichael Finley runs faster and jumps higher than Antonio Gates. He doesn't have the awareness Gates has, but his athleticism and 84 catching make him fantastic. When you take on the Packers in Madden, Aaron Rodgers to Finley is going to ruin your life.

Marcedes Lewis

Marcedes Lewis is going to be the best red zone and 3rd down weapon for everyone who plays with the Jaguars (all 4 people). Maurice Jones-Drew commands the attention of the entire defense--and rightfully so-- but it's Lewis whose 6'6" frame and 90 catching are going to eat up everything in the red zone.

Dallas Cowboys Power Rankings: The Team's 5 Best Fantasy Football Options

The Dallas Cowboys limped their way to a disappointing 6-10 record in 2010. Their head coach was fired, the high expectations were deflated by about Week 5, and their starting quarterback was in a sling for most of the season.

Former head coach Wade Phillips is gone, replaced by the young and motivated Jason Garrett. The expectations are somewhat lowered, as the Cowboys fly under the radar after all the moves the Eagles made this offseason. Healed is the broken collarbone that sidelined Tony Romo.

But most of all, the 2010 season is in the rear view mirror, as the Cowboys drive up on their 2011 opener. Starting the anew with a fresh 0-0 record is always something teams look forward to after a disappointing previous season.

Now the Cowboys high-octane offense should be back in shape. There are plenty of weapons for Romo and company.

In fact, this offense could once again prove to have some big-time fantasy contributors. Here are the top five on the Cowboys roster.

Tottenham Transfer News: Spurs Looking to Bring Scott Parker and Gary Cahill

Many sources are reporting that within the next few hours England international Scott Parker will move from West Ham to Tottenham.

Even Hammers co-owner David Sullivan has admitted that the midfielder is likely to join Spurs before the transfer window closes.

Parker has been the topic of many transfer rumors throughout the summer, as he has been targeted by Chelsea and Queens Park Rangers as well.

The England player is desperate to get back into the Premier League so he can keep his spot in the England squad ahead of the 2012 European Championship.

It is believed that Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has but in a bid of £6 million, £1 million more than QPR are offering, to win the race for Parker.

In other news, Spurs are looking to secure the services of Bolton centre back Gary Cahill, who has been a target of the club's North London rivals, Arsenal, all summer.

The first proposal to Bolton from Spurs was for cash and Sebastien Bassong to head to the Reebok Stadium, but now it looks like it will be a straight cash deal.

Cahill has been a target of the big clubs in England all summer and is in his last year of his contract with Bolton, and the Trotters would like to make a profit off of the 25-year-old Englishman.

It looks like the Parker transfer may happen sooner rather than later and that negotiations for Cahill joining the North London club are in progress as well, since Arsenal is likely out of the running for the center back.

Both of these signings would be a boost to Tottenham's morale, as they are still looking to claim their first points of the season in the Premier League.

LA Angels: 5 Reasons Jered Weaver Deal Was Great for Angels

Last Monday the Angels locked up their future by inking ace Jered Weaver to a five-year 85 million dollar extension through the year 2017. It is a signing ranging the Angels future and predicting the movements of their currently poor hitting small ball circus established by means of dominate pitching.

Though it is difficult to contend Weaver at $17 million a year is cheap, it is fair, to deem the deal as prudent determination by an Angels management in need of re-building Angel fandom whom turned off by recent high priced failures like Gary Mathews Jr. and now, Vernon Wells, have grown somnolent
with cynicism.

Despite current offensive prospects: Mike Trout, Hank Conger and Peter Bourjos, the calamitous injury peculiarities of young but fragile slugger, Kendry Morales, has sent them tail spinning into a forced
re-definition of the team's identity.

Weaver is putting up numbers like never before.

And despite wariness for inking young and big name pitchers entering their prime, it is inappropriate
to ignore the star heater for sake of fear.

His presence is a duplicitous stratum that routes the Angels in a positive direction.

Since watching one-time ace and fan favorite, John Lackey, escorted to the land of wearing Red Sox, the Angels have lacked a true tell numero uno, and because of this, were missing the franchise face for a future, that until this season had looked rather dingy, and for the first time in ten years, compass less.

Inter Milan Transfer News: Davide Santon to Head to Newcastle

Highly rated Italian youngster Davide Santon looks set to make a move to the English Premier League after undergoing a medical at Newcastle United. The deal comes after Inter acquired the services of the Brazilian fullback Jonathan, who looks set to compete with Santon for a starting position.

According to Goal.com, Newcastle United are looking to fill the gap left after the departure of Jose Enrique to Liverpool. Newcastle were in talks with PSV defender Erik Pieters prior to the move for Santon and were desperate to fill the void.

Santon is just 20 years old and has already attracted much attention, with many people comparing him to the like of Paolo Maldini.

The €5.7 million price tag associated with Davide Santon equates roughly to that brought in by the sale of Enrique, and there is no doubt that Santon will be able to cope with the pressures of the EPL (already proving himself in testing times at Inter).

Rumours about a move surfaced after his agent was questioned about a possible move to rival Serie A side Roma.

In the interview Santon's agent said, "At this time, there is no possibility that Santon can join Roma because right now the aim is Newcastle."

The versatile wing back can play on either side of the defensive line, has a burst of pace and also has a stinging shot from the dead-ball situation. For Santon, it is the right move for a player who will not flourish if he continually finds himself on Inter's bench.

Denver Nuggets' Offseason Spending Is Pivotal to Team's Future

Currently, the Denver Nuggets sit in a special and serious situation.

Of course, the lockout is special—the NBA hasn't found itself in the midst of a work stoppage for 10 years—but the Nuggets are truly in a unique spot for another reason.

As of now, Denver has only seven players signed to its roster.

If the opening tip was tonight, the Nuggets could look at their team as half full or half empty; either way, they don't have enough bodies to fill a roster.

The seven players under contract in Denver are as follows: Chris Andersen, Danilo Gallinari, Al Harrington, Kosta Koufos, Ty Lawson, Andre Miller, and Timofey Mozgov—barely enough players to sport a starting five, and a sorry set of starters at that.

Note: 2011 draftees Kenneth Faried and Jordan Hamilton will almost certainly sign with the team as soon as the lockout is over, but even then the Nuggets would only have nine players inked (to deals, that is).

The contract conundrum in Colorado's capital is crazy. Kenyon Martin, Nene and J.R. Smith are all unrestricted free agents, while Arron Afflalo, Wilson Chandler and Gary Forbes are restricted, meaning the Nuggets can match any offer from other team.

Little less than a year later from the 2010-11 season start, Denverites could be watching four new starters suit up in the baby blue and yellow (minus Carmelo Anthony, K-Mart, Nene and Afflalo, although Afflalo seems quite likely of re-signing).

And of the five players acquired in trade with the Knicks from the Melo megadeal, two are already gone. Raymond Felton was traded on draft night for Andre Miller, while Wilson Chandler decided to depart Denver for China in a deal that has no opt-out clause, meaning he won't return to the Nuggets even if the season does indeed take place.

Turnover is a negative word in sports, and this much turnover should be expected at Wal-Mart, but not necessarily for a professional sports team. Not to say it can't happen, but this much changeover of talent happens rarely.

It's the clear sign that the Nuggets are rebuilding—if it wasn't already apparent—and the roster could continue evolving for a long time.

Simply stated, the Nuggets must spend.

And even if Denver re-signs some of its free agents, it will have to find more players in free agency, and it has a multitude of moves to consider.

With Ty Lawson and Andre Miller, the Nuggets are poised at point.

At shooting guard, Afflalo will start if he re-signs, and Denver has to decide on trying to re-sign J.R. Smith or move in a different direction. Hamilton's highlight videos show he has some of the same skill set as Smith, but he will take time to mature and develop into the player that Smith can be at times on the court.

Explosive, entertaining, but also extravagant and ego-centric.

George Karl seems set on Danilo Gallinari starting for him at small forward—a possible reason that Chandler decided to move to China—but who will back him from the bench?

And who will start at power forward for Karl, who's beginning his second era in Denver?

Martin may leave, if not because he gets another offer, but because he doesn't exactly fit with this youth movement in the Mile High City.

Faried can't be asked to start right away. Should Koufos be given a chance? He has been impressing in Europe in recent months. Can Karl start Harrington? No chance.

The four is a major position in question, and so is the five.

Nene has started at center at the Pepsi Center for nine years, and if he goes to another team, who will start in the middle?

Karl said he believes Mozgov will be a starter within five years, but is he ready to play at a high level in the NBA right now? Karl can't start the Birdman—he's a boost off the bench and not talented enough offensively to play 30-plus minutes.

If the Nuggets want to compete, they have to make some acquisitions—and many of them—while focusing on the future all the while.

When the lockout is over, Denver needs to dig deep into its pockets and pay to fill the roster while finding the right men to take the Nuggets back to a competitive level.

NWO II: Why Kevin Nash Will Form the New World Order II with the Miz and R-Truth

Tonight, the WWE left us many clues as to where their direction is with Kevin Nash. They set up the Nash vs. CM Punk match for Night of Champions only to reverse the decision later on and have HHH take on Punk.

Knowing HHH's history in the ring, it is likely he will win to get a nod over Punk, but the likelihood that Nash plays a role in the outcome is very high as well.

WWE.com teased a formation of an "nWo II" and even named some potential members.

Nash came out to the classic nWo theme, "Rockhouse" which probably caused many viewers to mark out when they heard this.

Nash stood in the ring with The Miz and R-Truth during his attack on Punk and you have to believe that Nash will look to recruit these guys in his new stable in the near future.

The Miz and R-Truth are currently in a storyline where they both charge that they have been victims of a conspiracy by the WWE and are ready and willing to take over by force.

They have great heat as heels, with Truth doing his thing on the mic well, as does the Miz.

Nash will likely have this duo buy into his leadership and engage in a war with the WWE brass that will include HHH, John Laurinaitis and others.

Similar to how the nWo was in WCW during the Monday Night Wars, superstars will join and then cross sides, possibly leading to a split. Die hard wrestling fans will remember the feuds that took place within the nWo.

I believe this is a good idea for wrestling. It gives Nash another leadership role which he shines in, as well as re-teaming him with Truth, whom he helped push to championship gold in TNA during the mid-2000s during their run together. It also introduces The Miz to Nash, which bridges the gap between generations.

All in all, the goal for the WWE seems like they want to build an epic match for Survivor Series. With the Rock recently confirming his next WWE appearance as the November pay-per-view stable, it appears all the plans have been designed and laid into motion.

Wrestling is back my friends, enjoy the ride.

Why Jorge Posada Should Not Be on the Postseason Roster

For all Yankees fans alike, the demise of Jorge Posada has been a sticky subject. One of the three remaining members of the "Core Four," Posada's decline has certainly been the most abrupt. While his level of play was good enough to earn him a long-term extension just two years ago, it now seems that Jorge does not even belong on a Major League roster. This season, the Yankees clubhouse has been filled with drama regarding Posada. From a full time benching, to a rumored impromptu retirement, to playing second base for the first time in his 17-year career, the roller coaster has certainly had its highs and lows. At this point, it is quite clear that this season will be Posada's last in pinstripes. What is presently unclear is whether or not he has done enough to save himself from the shame of being left off of the postseason roster.

WWE Monday Night Raw 8/29/11 Review: The Top 5 Moments of the Night

It was another memorable night of action on WWE Monday Night Raw on Aug. 29, 2011.

We're here to break down the top five moments of the night, and there was plenty to work with on what I believe was a show that delivered on all fronts.

Tonight featured developing storylines, some great in-ring work and plenty of surprises.

Last week on Raw, Kevin Nash played Triple H, lying to make him leave the arena so he could distract CM Punk and cost Punk his rematch against WWE Champion Alberto Del Rio.

Speaking of Alberto Del Rio, he failed to make an appearance tonight on Raw but will be in action tomorrow night at Super SmackDown.

Super SmackDown is the live event airing on Syfy tomorrow, which is a change from SmackDown's typical tape delay format.  There was plenty of plugging going on for this show and a major announcement regarding the relationship between the Raw and SmackDown rosters.

Oh, on the topic of announcements, CM Punk's match for Night of Champions was announced...but it may not be against who you expected!

Check out the following slides as we break down the top five moments of WWE Monday Night Raw.

Transfer Deadline Rumours: 5 Possible Destinations for Wesley Sneijder

Wesley Sneijder looked like he could become a hot commodity this summer when Manchester United started to chase his signature.

For several weeks he was at the top of their want list behind the already wrapped-up deals for Ashley Young, Phil Jones and David de Gea.

Then the deal suddenly seemed to just wade away as Sir Alex Ferguson began to distance the club more and more from the speculation over the Dutchman.

Mainly I believe that Ferguson has been, and rightfully so after this opening month, very happy with his youthful contingent in the center of midfield.

He still has many veterans to choose from with Ryan Giggs, Michael Carrick and Darren Fletcher all still on the roster.

Now it is still up for grabs whether the Inter Milan playmaker will move before Wednesday or stay put.

How Michael Jordan Did in Two Straight Years What It Took Kobe 15 Years to Do

As I was compiling compelling and substantial information which showed how Pippen was more productive in his first four years in the NBA than Kobe was in his first four, I came across an amazing fact that many people do not know (or do not want to know).

Aside from the fact that Pippen and Kobe both were bench players as rookies, they both averaged just under eight points per game. They both also shot way under 50%, and neither looked like the player he would later become. While they both steadily improved neither immediately took off. In fact, it took them both a long time in the league.

If we were comparing these two men to other players in their field, we would have to acknowledge that Shaq averaged 23.9 points as a rookie and Jordan averaged 28.2 points per game. But that's not the point of the story......

Also each had the most dominant player in the world at the time of their first ever title win four years later into their careers: Shaquille O'Neal (2000)and Michael Jordan (1991), who unbelievably both won NBA MVP, Finals MVP, and each led the league in scoring in those years too. Not only were Pippen and Kobe sidekicks they were sidekicks of two of the players with the most dominant individual seasons basically ever. But that is not the point of the story.....

The story clearly showed that in 1991 compared to 1987 (the year before Pippen came to the Bulls), 10 of the twelve players on the 1991 team were no longer Bulls, thanks to Jordan. The 1991 Bulls roster had only Jordan and Paxson left over from 1987, the year before Grant and Pippen arrived. Don't you realize that people trying to say Jordan never won a title without Pippen. Well, he sure didn't win his titles because of Pippen. But that is not the point of the story....

He won his first because his entire new cast were team players who all deferred to Michael. After Pip's first season Jordan took Pippen to summer camps and worked with him closely every single day. By season four of Pippens career he did many of the things Michael did well, which is almost everything, but the point is he learned it directly from the GOAT. Jordan saved Pippen from a bad career, Pippen didn't save Jordan from anything. He actually only failed Chicago when Jordan was gone. But that's not the point of the story....

The point is that while reviewing Pippen, Jordan, Shaq and Kobe's first title win seasons, I realized that Kobe Bryant's rookie year was in 1997 and his second year was 1998. It soon clicked that in 1997 and 1998 combined Michael Jordan at ages 34 and 35, not only won the NBA MVP award once, he also won the scoring title twice and he was Finals MVP two times...but that's not the point of the story

Do you get it? In his very first two NBA seasons Kobe Bryant literally saw Michael Jordan win one MVP (1997) , two Finals MVP's(1997, 1998) and two scoring titles (1997, 1998). Do you realize that in 15 entire seasons in the NBA Kobe Bryant has won one MVP, two Finals MVP's and two scoring titles?

So, when little Kobe was averaging 7.6 and then 15.5 points per game in his first two seasons he saw the greatest player ever win as many awards of domination and then retire, as Kobe has won in 15 full seasons in the NBA.

All this amounts to me is further substantiation that MJ for sure the greatest player ever. Wilt shot 50% from the line for his career, if Jabbar dribbled the ball down the court he would lose it 90% of the time, Magic lost to Jordan in the Finals and Bird said he was looking at God disguised as Michael Jordan.

They all knew, and we all do too, but knowing how far ahead Mike is of the above listed guys is interesting but how far ahead he is of Bryant is sometimes baffling. Kobe will probably remember those two seasons forever because he saw one man win as many awards in two years as he has in 15 years.

In fact Kobe has now played in 1,103 NBA games and Jordan finished at 1,072. Jordan scored 32,292 points in those 1072 games and Kobe has scored 27,000 in 1103 games. If he ever does pass up the total points it will be like when Karl Malone did it, lame.

Also, Bird and Jordan shot 50% from the field for their careers as did Shaq, Olajuwon, Wilt, Jabbar and many others like Malone and Barkley and Magic. Yet not once in 15 seasons has Bryant ever even hit 47% from the field.

Two other things Jordan did in 1997 and 1998 that Bryant will never do: win every single Finals he participated in.

That is how Jordan did it!

NFL Trade Rumors: Eagles Open To Trading a Cornerback, But Which One?

It looks like the Philadelphia Eagles are still trying to shop around a cornerback, but if you think your team has a shot at Asante Samuel I wouldn?t get your hopes up just yet.

Peter King of Sports Illustrated reports that Philadelphia is a good to call up if your team is looking for a cornerback. He believes that the Eagles are looking to deal a cornerback, and that the guy that is most likely on the trading block is corner Joselio Hanson.

King reports that Hanson, who is a small fish in the big name pond known as the Eagles secondary, could probably be had for a third or fourth round pick.

Now, if you were hoping that the Eagles would be looking to unload a guy like Asante Samuel, it looks like it isn?t going to happen.

While the Eagles do need to make some roster space, Samuel should be a huge factor in this defense, even with the additions of Nnamdi Asomugha and Dominique Rodgers- Cromartie.

In fact, I think that Samuel will probably be the most valuable member of that secondary. He knows the system well, has been in Philadelphia for a while now, and he is an excellent playmaker.

There were earlier speculations that the Eagles would try to ship him off and capitalize on the value that he would bring back in a trade, but it looks like that time has come and past.

Plus, the Eagles are notoriously great traders who will milk you for all your worth. ESPN?s Adam Schefter writes more about the Eagles and how they approach trades:

"Here's what people have to remember about the Eagles: They never make a trade just to make a trade. They always try to squeeze every last drop of blood out of a team whenever they're making a deal. Think about it: they got a second- and fourth-round pick for Donovan McNabb one year before the Redskins got back two sixth-rounders for him. The Eagles got back Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and a second-round draft pick for Kevin Kolb when some teams in the league believed he wasn't worth that much. No team does a better job of maximizing value in trades than the Eagles. And it'll be the same with Samuel. If the right trade is there, and a team is willing to pay a hefty price for Samuel, then the Eagles could be inclined to deal. Otherwise, they'll just sit back and use Samuel to try to help dethrone the past two Super Bowl champions, the Green Bay Packers and New Orleans Saints, each of whom can spread the field with three- and four- wide receiver sets. If the Eagles want to win a Super Bowl this season, they're going to need Samuel."

Schefter?s point is well taken. In a league that is growing more and more apt to feature spread offenses, five receiver sets, and out of the pocket passers, having more than one marquee cornerback is not just a luxury but a must.

Two is nice, but if the Eagles want to compete for a Super Bowl spot they are going to have to hold on to all the assets they can.

The NFL and college football seasons are on the horizon and it's time to delve deep into statistical analysis...wait a minute.

Why don't we just combine two things that rival beer and hot dogs: smoking hot women and football jerseys. And by rival, I mean the way the Browns "rival" the Steelers.

Let's just leave the analysis to another list.

Eli Manning Compares Himself to Tom Brady, Maybe He Meant Trent Dilfer

No. He. Didn't.

Eli Manning went on the Michael Kay Show, which airs on ESPN New York 1050, and put himself in the same class as Tom Brady.

Seriously. I can't make something like this up. If you want to listen to the whole thing, go here. But I have to warn you, this is not a work-appropriate link. You will laugh hard enough to draw unnecessary attention to yourself.

The fun started when the host said, "Are you in the Tom Brady class?"

Eli responded with this:

"I consider myself in that class, and Tom Brady is a great quarterback. He's a great player, and what you've seen with him is he's gotten better every year, and he started off winning championships, and I think he's a better quarterback now than what he was, in all honesty, when he was winning those championships.

It's funny, you say well he won championships, but the team, but I think now he's grown up and gotten better every year and that's what I'm trying to do. I kind of hope these next seven years of my quarterback days are my best."

I can't argue the fact that Tom Brady has improved each year. He's hovered between 12 and 14 picks per year and and has typically thrown about 25 touchdowns each season. Brady mixed in a 50-spot in 2007 to go along with eight picks. And last year he tossed 36 touchdowns against four interceptions.

Manning on the other hand?

Not so much.

He started off with 17 picks in his first year as a starter. The number ballooned to 18 and then peaked at 20, which was the worst in the league, before he finally got things under control in 2008 and 2009.

And then, bang.

2010 rolled around, and Manning threw the ball to the other team 25 times and once again led the NFL in interceptions. His 25 picks are 11 more picks than Brady ever threw in a season.

To give you some perspective, the most picks Brady ever threw over a two-year period is 26.

I'm starting to think Manning wanted to say he was in the same class as Trent Dilfer even though Dilfer never threw 20 or more picks in a season. OK, I'm being a bit unfair with that stat because Dilfer never threw the ball as often as Manning.

But here's what the two have in common. They each won a Super Bowl by finding themselves in the right place at the right time, and they never validated their success.

In 2007, Manning led the NFL in interceptions with 20, which was highlighted by a four-pick showing against the Vikings at home. He then backed that up with two more picks on the road, and yet his team still found a way to win.

When Dilfer won his Super Bowl in 2000 he managed to throw 11 picks in only eight games, yet his team managed to go 7-1 with him under center despite him throwing two interceptions in three of the team's last five games.

Both cut back on their picks in the playoffs, hid behind their defense, won on the road and eventually held the Vince Lombardi trophy.

And I am well aware that Manning went up against Brady in his Super Bowl win, but we all know Asante Samuel and David Tyree deserve a lot of the credit.

First, Samuel dropped a pick with 1:17 remaining in the game, and then Tyree did his thing.

I know, I know. Manning eluded the pressure and avoided a sack, which would have ended the game for all intents and purposes. Great, he was Fran Tarkenton and Randall Cunningham all wrapped in one for one stinkin' play.

And I know we can never take that win away from Manning.

But here's what else "never" can be associated with.

Dilfer never won a playoff game after his Super Bowl win. And guess what? Manning never won a playoff game outside of that fluke 2007.

Come on Eli, don't put yourself in Brady's class when the guy has 14 playoff wins and opened up his career with 10 straight postseason victories.

Don't lie to yourself and think you are like a quarterback who led the league in touchdowns three years, yards twice, completion percentage once and quarterback rating twice while you led the league in nothing other than picks thrown.

Manning can't possibly put himself in the same class as Brady. But if he wanted to classify himself with Dilfer, we could have a interesting conversation.

26 Unheralded Players with Breakout Performances in the NFL's Preseason Week One

Every year in the NFL, there is a bevy of players that finally make a strong impression in the preseason.

It could be a rookie, either drafted or undrafted, or it could be a veteran that is finally getting their first real chance in the spotlight. Excelling in the preseason may also be the result of playing in garbage time and going up against the third team of reserves, so you shouldn't place much stock in the results.

Some of these preseason breakouts fizzle before they ever reach the regular season, while others used their breakout as a springboard to bigger and better things down the road. This is where their star was able to be officially launched.

So, we will take a review around the NFL from Week 1 action and toast the top 26 unheralded players that had a breakout game.

By the way, some of you might be wondering with all of the scrutiny of the NFL Network at the Scouting Combines, how is any player in the NFL still unheralded? Good question.

For the purpose of this article, first-round draft picks like Cam Newton and Julio Jones don't qualify, but day three picks like Denarius Moore and Dwayne Harris do.

Makes sense?
